Beauty Tips-Drug Store Eyebrows

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment

We all love good Brows right? I have always had thicker eyebrows and never considered coloring them in, that is until I met Brittany. She would color in my brows every time she would do my makeup that after a couple times I was sold. As I get older they are starting to thin out in the corners. That is where the main focus is for me. By filling them in I get a more defined shape and it completes my overall look.

Brittany shares her 3 favorite Brow products and why in this weeks Post! I will link all products she mentions in the video for easy shopping! Hope you enjoy these fabulous tips!

EyeBrows-

Maybelline Brow Drama- Hairspray for Eyebrows

Maybelline Brow Pencil Duo- Brow defining to create strokes, gives a micro-blade look

Maybelline Tattoo studio Brow Pomade- It comes with an angle brush and spoolie to comb it out.

If you can’t laugh at yourself, you are missing out. I never take myself too seriously, I spent a long time worried about what other people think. Until one day I realized it didn’t matter, plus people are too busy worrying about themselves they don’t have time to worry about you. And if they do have time to worry about you, you don’t want those people in your life anyways because they have zero going on! So do you and don’t apologize for any of it!

Fashion on a Budget- Hats

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment

You all have seen the cute fun hats everyone is wearing lately. I could not get them out of my head, I wasn’t sold on them completely since I have never seen anyone wear one in real life. The people that I would see wearing them were the perfect IG like to know it girls that literally can wear a sack from Walmart and make me want to buy that shit.

But you know me and of course I was like “If that chick can pull it off, so can I” I went to Amazon and got to creepin until I found one that wasn’t completely overpriced. Can we just take a minute and give a shout out to Amazon and how cute their clothes have been lately! I swear every single cute thing I have seen is from Amazon. To say I was nervous about the quality and fit is an understatement, I was crossing my fingers that it was going to fit my big head. When it arrived I immediately tried it on and it was perfect. The quality and the fit were better than I expected!

I swear I wore this thing everyday since I got it. It comes in tan and burgundy and that burgundy one is calling my name. I might have to order it asap. For less than $20 you really can’t beat it. I wanted to show you the four outfits that I styled it with and maybe inspire you to hop on this trend. I attached the link for the one I am wearing here.

Comfy T-shirt dress

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment
IMG_8589.JPG

Praise Jesus I finally found a dress that covers my butt! Normally I am not a dress type of girl, but this one was just so cute, I couldn’t pass it up. I bought it at Forever 21 per usual, they need to sponsor me already, like what are they doing with their life? It is long enough to cover all the goods which is a rare occasion with dresses at that store. It is soft and flattering with the high neck and folded over sleeves. It is the perfect cozy dress for mommin on a Tuesday. I saw it in a forest green as well but it didn’t speak to me like this color.

The pink was just so fun and figured it would look great with my leopard platforms. Now that I’ve worn it, I’m definitely going back for that forest green, I freaking knew that was going to happen. The shoes I’m wearing are Steve Madden and were $50, which is awesome especially for Steve Madden, he is not cheap, most times I find the dupes at the random stores in the mall, anyone else do that? They also come in camo and black. You may or may not be seeing those in future posts cough cough.

With summer around the corner this is a great dress to wear casual with sneakers or can be dressed up with cute wedges or sandals. I am wearing a size small and it was $12.90! I know, that price is amazing!

I linked a couple more dresses that are under $25.00

Fitted T-shirt dress

Tank midi dress

My Favorite Drug Store Foundation!

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment
IMG_0300.JPG

I used to be the ride or die expensive brand name foundation type……until they started costing more than $40! I mean come on, that is just ridiculous for how much you get and how short it lasts. I used to wear the Estee Lauder foundation and loved it, but I would have to buy it so often that I just couldn’t do it anymore. I switched over to Mac for a while, but they have so many damn kinds I could never remember which one I bought! Plus every time I would go in there to buy something I would walk out spending a couple hundred on shit I don’t even know how to use.

Now that I am mostly home throughout the week I didn’t want to use up all my expensive foundation when I was going to the grocery store, I mean Costco, yes of course, I dress up for that shit cause hello, it’s Costco. But the other stores, no, they get the natural me. I just wanted something to throw on that still gave me coverage while not breaking the bank. So to Pinterest I went, I read reviews, comparisons, and tried tons!

These are the 2 brands that actually worked and didn’t look cakey. L’oreal matte foundation and Milani foundation. They both give great coverage and do not cost a ton. I like them both for different reasons. The L’oreal is more of a matte finish and I like to wear that one when I am a little more tan, the colors match my skin tone better when they are darker for some reason. The Milani also has great coverage but has a more dewy finish, I can always find my match with that brand. They both last all day and have great coverage, if you like a lighter coverage foundation I wouldn’t recommend these two brands. I legit want like all the makeup on my face, like hide all the imperfections type of foundation, so if you are one of those blessed people that are pretty without makeup and just want some even color then these aren’t for you. I also use the Shape Tape concealer from Ulta, and on my at home days I use the Maybelline Master Conceal.

Y’all know I am all about finding a good deal, and these drugstore foundations don’t disappoint, if you give them a try let me know how you like them, or if you need more recommendations I would be happy to find some. If you have any other products you want me to write about leave a comment or email me and I would love to write about them!

Fashion on a Budget- Graphic Tees

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment

Who does’t love a good graphic-tee? I swear that is all I own these days! In today’s Fashion on a Budget series I am sharing where I find my favorite graphic-tees for less. They do not have to cost a ton of money to be cute! The best part about them is you can style them up or down, I can pair one with a blazer and pumps or casual it down with some leggings and sneakers. Either way graphic-tees should be in your closet! I usually creep on the like to know it app to get ideas. Usually they are more expensive and unless I can’t live without it, I am not paying a ton of money for a tee that I most likely won’t wear very long.

Revolve $125.00

First picture is from Revolve.com and is $125.00 This one is so cute and can be dressed up or down. I like how soft it looks and if I were going to wear it by itself with no jacket, then I would recommend it.

Since you know me, $125.00 was not my ideal price for a shirt. With this in mind I started searching to find another version.

Seek and you shall find! I was in Forever21 when I saw this gem hanging on a rack. They only had a small left but I did not care, this was going home with me. With Forever21 you never know what type of fit you are going to get. One shirt that is small can fit perfect and another be a crop top. My advice when shopping there is to try everything on if possible.

Forever 21

$9.90

To my surprise the small was a perfect fit. I was so excited to get it home and piece it all together with my outfit. With a little bit of patience you can always find some good pieces at Forever21.

Beauty on a Budget- Press on nails

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment
IMG_7619.JPG

Trust me I was skeptical at first. I remember using press on nails in middle school, you would be all stoked to put them on, then one single move and bam those things popped off left and right. I don’t know if I am making this up or not, but I remember them being crazy freaking long too, like the nails you only see on the creepy sample hand that every salon used to have. You remember right? When airbrushing cool designs and an obscene amount of jewels were super dope to have. Wow that just took ya girl back to the early 2000’s.

Press on nails have come a long way. For one, the style options are insane. They have multiple lengths and every trendy color you can think of. They have matte, gloss, glitter, designs and even jewels! Now I can create any design I want for less than $10 and half the time.

They come in handy for events like holidays, weddings, bridal showers, prom or last minute invites. You don’t have to worry about making an appointment, just run to your favorite drug store and grab a box. The Kiss brand that I like come with everything you need. The glue and file are nicely placed in the box for you.

I first lay out the sizes of the nail to fit each finger, once I find the size I flip the nail over and look for the number to find it’s pair. Then I lay them out in order so I can just grab them once I have the glue ready. I put the glue all over my nail, be careful not to use to much glue because it will make your skin stick to your nail and I kid you not that shit hurts so bad. Once I finish applying all the nails, I cut them with regular nail clippers if they are to long and then file to my desired shape. You can leave them the way they come, it just depends on your preferred style.

They have lasted me 2 weeks, usually I take them off before then just because I get bored. I haven’t experience any damage to my nails and I think it is because I keep them on for a long time, if you rip them off after a day I would guess you will get some damage. So for less than $10 I think you have nothing to loose by giving them a try! If you have any questions just comment below and I will be happy to answer them for you!

Fashion on a Budget- Blazers

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment
white blazer shop bop.jpg

Shop Bop $88.00

I headed to Dallas, Texas for a conference. This meant find all the cutest outfits possible. I was going to be around a ton of adults so mama was getting dressed up for this shit. I wanted to find a cute white blazer to wear since they are back in style. It is in the middle of spring so the white just seemed so perfect. Mother nature didn’t think so and decided to thunder and lightning the whole trip but it’s good I still looked cute. Blazers can be tricky because the fabric has to be good, otherwise they can look cheap really fast. What I look for is a thicker fabric, the thicker the fabric is, the sturdier the jacket will look, aka more expensive. Depending on the type of look I am going for I either choose one with embellishments or one with a simpler style.

I saw this blazer on Instagram and immediately creeped to find it. I wasn’t to mad at the price because it is very cute, but I had a feeling I can find one for a little cheaper. I swear I should be on that crazy coupon show, I have way to much fun finding deals.

The first picture is from Shopbop it is $88.00 which isn’t to bad, It is super cute and a great option for sure!

white blazer vici.jpg

Vici $32.00

The second picture is from VICI and it was on sale so I scored, it is sold out now but I still wanted to show you the option. This one was originally $64.00 but I got it on sale for $32.00, if you like something on Vici’s website try and wait a week or 2 because it always goes on sale. I get most of my staple pieces and dresses from Vici, their quality is amazing and always on trend.

How to Style White Skinny Jeans!

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment

Ahh is there anything better than a fresh pair of white skinnies? Well, I think there is. High waisted! Can I get a hallelujah? High waisted is the holy grail for sucking in all the goods. They don’t give you that muffin top when you sit down and are way more comfortable than the low rise.

My go to brand is American eagle, the style I love is next level stretch high waisted jegging. I buy that exact style in every color. They always fit the same no matter what and also come in huge variety of styles, also wait until they have sale, usually they have 30% off online or they do buy one get one half off. I’m all about a deal!

Here are my favorite ways to style white skinny jeans!

  • For a casual look I will take a printed tee or graphic tee that is a little less fitted and pair it with sandals or sneakers depending on the weather and activity. Throw my hair in a top knot and be on my way

  • For a dressier look I like to add in a body suit or a fitted jacket. A body suit gives the look more of a tighter more put together vibe, I will usually choose a solid color for this, I like to keep the patterns for more of a casual look. The jacket can be any type, Moto, denim, or tweed depending on the activity. Then complete the look with a cute heel, booty, or wedge.

You really can’t go wrong with a good pair of white skinny’s. They are the perfect piece to have for spring and summer, or if you live in California year round! What are your favorite ways to style your white jeans? Share below so we can all get new ideas!

Leopard Pant suit

Fashion and BeautyRenee Dick2 Comments

$35 my friends! I was walking through Forever 21, I know shocker. The top was hanging on a rack, immediately caught my eye but I figured there was no way I would ever wear that type of top. So, I kept walking. Then the pants decided to make an appearance, ohhh girl, now we are talking. They only had large, but I grabbed it anyway. I figured I can find the other size online if I needed to. Went to the fitting room to see if this was going to work, or if I was going to have one of those “Renee, you are getting to old for this shit” moments.

To my surprise the fitting room rack had a medium, bless up! It was perfect. The high waist makes the tiny crop top not so aggressive, so it is a flattering fit! You bet I looked in that mirror and said “yea girl, you still got it”

Let me repeat $35 for the entire set. As you know, move quickly with forever 21 because once they are gone its impossible to find again.

If you find anymore and grab them, tag me in your pics! I would love to see how you style it. Or if you find any cute gems from there feel free to share!

Casual and Cute Park Outfit

Fashion and BeautyRenee DickComment

Jean shorts, graphic tee and sneakers. Follow that up with 80 degrees on a Saturday and you’ll find my happy place. Weekends are usually spent with my boys outside.

It’s so hard to find that casual outfit that isn’t ya know, to casual. I know I always want to be comfy but also still feel like I tried.

A fun stylish pair of sneakers are always my go to. Obviously, I would love to wear cute wedges or a cute heel but that is just never going to happen for this boy mama.

Vans are always the best when it comes to the perfect casual shoe. I normally go straight for the platforms but the pink sparkle had me hooked!

Pair those fun sneakers with a band tee and your not only comfy but trendy! Total confession, I own 5 Rolling Stones Tees… no, I do not listen to them, they just really nailed it with their logo.

I am always on the hunt for new sneaker ideas so if you have any that you are currently loving share them in the comments below!

How to curl your hair

Fashion and BeautyRenee Dick4 Comments

What comes to mind when I say Farrah Fawcett? Totally had to google her name right now, sorry Farrah! Instantly I see that one picture of her smiling wearing an orange tank top, that amazing hair fabulously flowing away from her face. Sorry, completely dazing off into the amazingness of her hair, ahh goals.

IMG_7930.JPG

So why all the Farrah talk? Because I want you to use that as a guide when you are curling your hair. Always think about curling away from your face, I’m old school and prefer an actual curling iron instead of a wand, but if a wand is your jam that’s cool too! When I am curling, I always start with the back pieces that way when you are done curling that piece you can toss it behind your shoulder. Then I work my way forward. If its easier clip your hair into sections. I personally don’t anymore just because my hair is so long that I can. If you have shorter hair, I would recommend using clips.

Make sure to always start in the middle of the strand and not the bottom. When you start at the bottom and try to curl up you risk getting those kinked up ends or your hair will keep slipping out. By starting in the middle, you have way more control over the hair. I also like to keep the ends out to create a more casual look. If you want to keep the ends in, go for it! it’s more of a dressy type look or southern bell as I like to refer too.

I have used Hot Tools curling irons for years, they are the OG when it comes to curling irons. Although lately mine have started to break and I have been looking at the Babyliss brand. My hair stylist used it and highly recommended it. Once I grab one I will share how I like it!

If your hair doesn’t hold a curl I would use a smaller barrel to get a tighter curl, once curled do not touch it, you want to keep it as tight as possible, that way when you get to your destination they won’t be completely flat. The bigger barrel gives more of a looser beach wave, this is perfect for thicker or curly hair types as it gives you more space to work with.

I personally don’t use any hairspray or products just because I’m lazy, but I would recommend a hard hold hairspray like Big Sexy Hair a light hold hairspray like Morrocan Oil or a texture spray. Clean hair is the worst for holding a curl, so for best results have one day hair or add in some dry shampoo for extra texture. I linked the comb I used in the video here.

Now go out and practice practice practice, all while thinking happy thoughts of Farrah’s fabulous hair curling away from her face!
